Restaurant Kitchen Tile and Grout FAQ

Straight answers about re-grouting and repairing quarry tile floors in commercial kitchens.

How much does it cost to regrout a restaurant kitchen?

We price by package. $2,500 covers 500 square feet of re-grout and 50 pieces of tile, roughly half the kitchen walkways. $4,600 covers back of house and bar: 1,000 square feet of re-grout and up to 100 pieces of tile, which handles most kitchens. $6,800 covers a full back of house and bar: 1,500 square feet of re-grout and up to 300 pieces of tile, including under all equipment. Larger kitchens and minor repairs within about 2 hours of Atlanta get a custom quote. Send photos and we will tell you which option fits.

Can you do the work without shutting down the restaurant?

Yes. We work overnight after you close and we are out before your opening crew arrives. We do not interfere with closing duties or morning prep. Larger kitchens are done in sections over several nights so the line is always usable. We use a premium fast-setting hydraulic grout and fast-setting materials throughout, so your prep crew never deals with wet grout or loose tile in the morning.

Will grout dust get on our equipment and food areas?

No. We remove the old grout with a wet saw we engineered for quarry tile. The water keeps the grout dust out of the air, so it does not settle on hoods, shelving, equipment, or the dining room. We clean up the slurry before we leave.

Why not just put new grout over the old grout?

Old kitchen grout is soaked with grease and cleaning chemicals. New grout spread over it has nothing clean to bond to, so it cracks and pops loose, often within a few months. We cut the old grout out first so the new grout bonds to clean tile edges. That is the difference between a patch and a repair that lasts.

How long does new grout last in a commercial kitchen?

Re-grout, tile repair, and tile replacement all carry a one-year warranty. In most kitchens the grout lasts two to three years, depending on the area and traffic. The dish area and cook line take the most abuse; walk-in and prep areas usually last longer.

Do you replace broken and missing quarry tile and cove base?

Yes. We replace cracked, broken, loose, and missing 6x6 quarry floor tile and cove base tile, matching size and color as closely as available. Broken tile and open grout joints are common floor items on audits and health inspections, so we fix them in the same visit. Tile repair and tile replacement carry the same one-year warranty as our re-grout work.

Will this help us pass Ecolab audits and health inspections?

Missing grout, broken tile, and gaps at the cove base hold water, food debris, and bacteria, and they get written up. We repair exactly those floor items so your kitchen floor is cleanable and sealed again.

Do you work through ServiceChannel?

Yes. Atlantic Tile is set up as a ServiceChannel vendor, so facilities teams can dispatch and track our work orders the way they already do.

Where do you work?

We serve restaurants within approximately a 12-hour drive of Atlanta: from Miami to Washington, DC, Chicago, and Dallas, and everywhere in between. If your location is close to that line, call and ask.

What kind of floors do you work on?

Commercial kitchen and bar floors, mainly 6x6 quarry tile, which is what most restaurant kitchens use. We also repair the matching cove base along walls and equipment.

Repaired overnight. Dry and ready for your opening crew.
